Cary has visited schools and libraries all over Canada, speaking to kids from kindergarten to grade 6. He loves to encourage kids not only to read but also to find their own stories and tell them in words and images. Cary has given many writing workshops for kids, running from a single hour to several sessions.
Cary has appeared before many adult audiences at writers’ festivals from Vancouver to Halifax. He enjoys speaking to adult audiences and reading from his novels and story collections.
An instructor at the University of Toronto School of Continuing Studies, Cary gives 8-week workshops in writing picture books and middle-grade novels. As well, he teaches in the school’s week-long summer program. For information about the next classes contact Cary or visit the school’s website.
